Wakefield Varsity Warriors won big over Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology 8-1 on Wednesday.
Wakefield Varsity Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Julia Mitzen walked, Tatum Oliver singled down the left field line, Reece Wilder doubled to center field, and Laura-Kate Gwilliam singled to center field, each scoring one run.
Wakefield Varsity Warriors added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Kira Zoeller drew a walk, scoring one run, Lucy Strawn singled, scoring one run, and Mitzen singled, scoring two runs.
Olive Jeng earned the win for Wakefield Varsity Warriors. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking none. Sabrina Hagen took the loss for Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology. The starting pitcher went six innings, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits, striking out one and walking six. Elle Edens collected the save.
