We are a group of volunteers who work to provide scholarships, preserve the history of Wakefield and connect the Warrior Nation.

Established in 1986 and incorporated in Virginia, the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that is governed by a board of trustees.

In September, 2021, Pete Arnston wrote this brief history of the Foundation.

Our Bylaws are available here as a pdf file.

Our IRS Form 990 is available upon request from our treasurer (email “treasurer@wakefieldalumni.org”).

The main purpose of the Wakefield High School Education Foundation, Inc. is to provide scholarships to graduating Wakefield seniors. Established in 1986, the Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. We are proud that, to date, we have been able to help 650 Wakefield graduates attend college. Since the creation of the Foundation in 1986, we have given a total of $4.75 million in scholarships and teacher grants. All of those funds were raised through contributions and interest income.

Each spring a selection committee consisting of alumni from various Wakefield classes and current and retired staff members review the scholarship applications and select award winners. In addition, the Foundation maintains a database of Wakefield graduates and friends of Wakefield to assist reunion organizers and to connect the Warrior Nation. And the Foundation preserves the history of Wakefield though an archive.
